Onyemaechi Unveils Bold Security Blueprint, Challenges Tinubu’s Leadership
In a sweeping policy declaration, Onyemaechi Francis Nnana, presidential aspirant under the National Rescue Movement (NRM), has laid out an ambitious vision to tackle Nigeria’s deepening insecurity, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of leaving millions of citizens trapped in fear.

The NABTOWSS Vision
Central to Onyemaechi’s plan is the creation of the National Border Towers and Security System (NABTOWSS)—a coordinated security architecture designed to monitor and protect Nigeria’s porous borders in close collaboration with intelligence agencies.
NABTOWSS will not merely watch our borders; it will secure them, protect our people, and safeguard the environment in which our businesses and industries thrive,” Onyemaechi declared.
He emphasized that a secure Nigeria is the foundation of a productive economy, warning that no economic policy can succeed if businesses and citizens remain vulnerable to violent crime.
Reforming the Security Forces
Onyemaechi pledged comprehensive reforms of the police and military, guided by his Inspire and Monitor Framework—a balanced approach that rewards dedication while enforcing accountability.
Compensation: Within his first 100 days, he promised a new salary structure, setting a minimum of ₦500,000 for officers.
Incentives: Scholarships for the first two children of every serving officer, alongside other benefits to build a motivated, professional force.
Transparency: Introduction of body cameras and a Security Timestamp and Database System to document arrests, curbing indiscriminate detentions and harassment.
Beyond Security: Linking Prosperity to Leadership
Onyemaechi stressed that security alone is not enough. He tied national prosperity to health, education, and employment, arguing that Nigeria’s crises stem from failed leadership.
“For many years, Nigeria has struggled with insecurity, unemployment, and failing educational and healthcare systems. Yet the fundamental issue at their root is invariably leadership,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to reject vote-buying and sentimental politics, insisting that leaders must present detailed, actionable plans rather than slogans or statistics.
A Direct Challenge to Tinubu
Onyemaechi’s rhetoric was sharp, contrasting his vision with Tinubu’s governance:
He dismissed the idea that a former governor armed with numbers automatically makes a better president.
He criticized campaigns built on slogans like “emilokan”, arguing they fail to prioritize ordinary Nigerians.
He warned that Nigeria’s porous borders and poorly equipped police force have eroded the state’s monopoly on force, fueling violent crime.
